NEXT MEETING: January 6, 2009 1-3 p.m.

The Immanuel Process. Mr. Kim Campbell, PA-C, will present a powerful new approach to resolve major trauma through focusing on the presence of God. This approach was developed by Karl Lehman, MD, a Christian Board-certified psychiatrist in Chicago who developed the Immanuel Process from both EMDR and TheoPhostic Prayer Ministry approaches. This new method is based on new medical research on how the brain processes trauma and how the power of relationships provides the resources to fully resolve trauma. Mr. Campbell, the medical director for The Voice of the Martyrs and a Board member for Shepherd’s House, a counseling “think tank” in California, has had great success employing this approach with traumatized women in South America, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. He will also demonstrate some the Immanuel Processes’ essential features by leading an exercise toward a fuller awareness of God’s presence.

Orphanage and Foster Care workers and Hostel Home Parents training. The Well will offer a 6 session training course in Thai for the above mentioned children’s workers. We would like at least 2 staff from each home to attend if possible, with a maximum of 5 staff- (due to space limitations). There is space for 45 attendees. This training is for Thai staff. We will use a community parenting education model – adapted for group home workers. The training will focus on attachment and behavior issues. The training will be largely experiential with small group times and time for individual reflection. There will be homework assignments each week to help solidify what is learned during each session.

The dates for the six sessions will be:
Tuesday January 20, 27, February 3, 10, 17, 24.
The training times will be from 9-11 on each of the mentioned dates.
The cost per person is 1000 Baht.
Trainers: David Floge (USA), Ulrika Ernvik (Sweden).

Register here

There will be a certificate awarded to those who attend a minimum of 5 of the 6 sessions. We are hoping that this will be the first module of a three module program designed by The Well. If you are not able to attend this session we hope to offer the program again in September or October.

CSA The CernySmith Assessment (CSA) is designed to evaluate and enhance cross-cultural adjustment for international personnel and their family members (age 15 and above). Each online English language assessment takes about 20-30 minutes to complete and is appropriate for anyone living cross-culturally for more than 30 days. The CSA is available in five versions depending on occupational role: B (Business), C (Diplomat), M (Military), H (Humanitarian), and S (Student). This particular workshop is for people using the Humanitarian and Student versions.

Level 1 Workshop This introductory level training workshop for coaches and other helping professionals provides a brief overview of the research and development of field-tested CSA cross-cultural assessment tools.

Using disguised case examples from the field it describes and illustrates the 20 statistically-derived assessment scales within 5 adjustment domains of well-being: Organizational, Cultural, Personal, modeled, and practiced. Workshop participants will be provided with interpretation tools in manual form. Principles for establishing healthy coaching relationships within the coach – client – organization triangle will be discussed and illustrated.
