The Well Member Care Center

Job Description for Member Care Provider

Job Description:

The Well Member Care Center is a growing and stimulating place to serve God.  The Well seeks to provide a wide range of member care services throughout Southeast, Central, and East Asia.  It serves people working in countries from Japan to Central Asia, and even the Middle East and Africa; and from Mongolia to Indonesia.

We are looking for people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds to meet the changing needs of the missions community and member care providers.  These skills could include counseling, pastoral care, or a specialized helping approach (e.g. healing prayer, conflict resolution, team development).  We are also interested in skills in teaching, leading trainings or workshops, or in consultation in a wide variety of topics related to relational issues.  Consultation skills with teams or organizations are also valued.

It is preferred that people have either 1) overseas living experience, or 2) a number of years of applied experience in a helping profession or setting.  Ideally the person would have some of both.  We are reluctant to accept people newly out of a training program with no overseas living experience.  We are looking for individuals who display initiative, independence, and flexibility in meeting the needs for member care.

A Member Care Provider will be expected:

  1. To be a full or part-time member of The Well provider group and work under the direction and authority of the Director of The Well
  2. To provide member care services according to his/her training and interests under the name of The Well.
  3. To be willing to develop new ways of providing those services either in Chiang Mai, or in other places as the need and opportunity arises.
  4. To attend provider meetings and consultation meetings as he/she is able, and to contribute their expertise as part of the provider group.
  5. Will be expected to take appropriate time at the beginning of his/her stay in Chiang Mai to do some language study, and to become familiar with the local culture and area.
